The Workshop
The Workshop is situated in Vicarage Lane, Ringmer. It has always been a workshop; first of all, in its long history, as a store and repair shop for bikes, then a paint store, and following this a ceramicist’s studio. We began to rent it from the then owner in 2015 and held an exhibition there in the following year of Art Wave (2016) of our own work and that of a friend. We were subsequently able to buy the Workshop and staged a second Art Wave exhibition (2017) along with two local artist friends: water-colourist Ann Divall and potter Rosemary Land. Both events were very well attended and were, for us, thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. We feel it’s always good to have people respond to our work. One of the first things we did when we acquired the workshop was to paint the door blue. Hence the name – with a distant homage to the Blaue Reiter (Blue Rider) group of the 1910s.
